ABOUT US
Tim King, Chief Flying Instructor (CFI) of Sky Paragliding first started flying back in 1987 in the world of microlights and Hang gliders.
With the advent of paragliding the appeal was apparent and with its no-fuss properties, it was an obvious step for the ultimate free flying experience...
Once attaining his instructor rating in '89, Tim went on to be senior Instructor at the largest paragliding school in the country. Tim's skills as an instructor and pilot were honed whilst competing at international level and subsequently by training up and coming British team members in advanced safety manoeuvres (SIV).
France was the place to do this and Tim remained there for 3 years. He ran a successful residential Alpine and SIV (simulated incidents in flight) flying centre based in the high French Alps, teaching beginners and instructors alike. Tim returned to the UK in '95 to set up his UK school. Whilst managing and being assisted by a skilful team, the school grew into a large operation. After five successful years, Tim felt that he needed to refocus.
With a renewed teaching philosophy of working on building a more personal relationship with his students, working with small group and with intensive teaching techniques, the recipe was born to develop higher quality pilots from a more productive environment.
Tim has now moved this on further to concentrate on teaching all his courses at specially selected overseas locations. The UK weather becomes a real stumbling block for teaching the UK Club Pilot tasks and more advanced skills safely and with continuity. The plusses of these overseas residential intensive courses became clear. More reliable conditions, uncrowded sites, no long gaps between training days, more varied conditions, comparable cost to UK training, time saved along with a holiday atmosphere to boot are just a few points that make training overseas, at any level, so productive, safe and fun.
